Our Story

After more than 45 years of combined experience practicing construction law at one of the largest firms in Texas, we founded Slates Harwell Campbell LLP in 2013 with a simple goal: bring big firm pedigree and deep construction experience to a focused, agile boutique.

We built this firm for one industry and one purpose: helping construction clients plan, execute, and deliver successful projects.

A Construction Law Boutique, Start to Finish

Most lawyers are either deal lawyers or litigators. Because our practice is devoted to the construction industry, we are both.

We work with clients from project concept through completion, including:

  • Contract drafting and negotiation
  • Project planning and risk management
  • Claims analysis and avoidance
  • Mediation and arbitration
  • Trial and appellate litigation

In this comprehensive role, we see your business from all sides. We learn how you bid, build, and manage risk. That perspective allows us to give practical, business-driven advice—not just legal answers in a vacuum.

When disputes arise, we leverage our knowledge of your business with our courtroom and arbitration experience to pursue efficient, effective resolutions.

How We Work

Construction runs on plans, budgets, and schedules. So do we.

For every matter, we:

  • Plan – Understand your business objectives and define success for the specific project or dispute.
  • Execute – Develop and implement a strategy tailored to your risk profile, timeline, and budget.
  • Deliver – Measure results against your goals and adjust as the matter or project evolves.

Whether we are negotiating a complex EPC contract, advising on project risk, or trying a dispute to verdict, we partner with our clients to achieve  success through this guiding  philosophy:

Plan. Execute. Deliver.
